When we were kids, the first lifeguard tower that sat on the sand north of the Oceanside Pier was Tower 3. During the busy summers, the American Flag would always fly high atop the Tower and whip in the ocean breeze. With the sun shining bright, the red lifeguard can would almost glow against the summer sun and ocean water. We can feel the summer breeze on our faces - can you?

Growing up in a resort town didn’t seem unusual. But, looking back, our childhood in Lake Arrowhead was anything but normal. With the serene lake at the heart of the town, we used to watch the sail boats in the summer cruise the deep blue waters as the fireworks flashed against the emerald-colored pine trees that peppered the mountainside like jewels.
